Mission

The Eagle Lake Conversation Association was incorporated in 1979 and has been focused on driving its mission for over 35 years. We aim:

“To promote, foster, and improve the quality of the air, water, flora, fauna and the community in and around the region of Eagle Lake, Machar Township in the District of Parry Sound, Ontario and to provide a vehicle in which persons living on or owning property on Eagle Lake may make their interests and views known to all municipal and other governmental authorities and each other, for the mutual benefits of the community.”

JERRY STRICKLAND AWARD

In the Fall of 2003, the ELCA was awarded the Jerry Strickland Award of Merit. This award is presented by the Federation of Ontario Cottagers’ Association (FOCA) to a member association. The association chosen must have realized a significant accomplishment which benefits their cottagers in general, and its work with members and the surrounding area.

Judging for the award included the following criteria: Environmental Activities, Land Use Planning, Research and/or Education, Recreational Boating, Taxation and Political Activity.

The Award for the ELCA was presented to Gail Henderson, accompanied by Lynn Loney, at a special presentation in Toronto during the FOCA Fall meeting, by Environment Committee Chair, Catherine Mackenzie. This was indeed an honour that is shared by many, many volunteers, cottagers and year-round residents of Eagle Lake and Machar Township.
